When a child has lost their home…………….

Do they have to lose their dignity too?

In September of 2000 RICORP began its Suitcases For Kids program to collect luggage for children in residential placement. Often when these youth move from site to site, they carry all of their belongings in hefty garbage bags. In the eyes of a traumatized, often de-valued child, it can send the message that they too are as worthless as garbage. The Council began the suitcase drive to show youth in care that they are valued.

By the end of 2007 the program has provided in excess of 650 suitcases to youth in care.

RICORP is continually looking for the following items for our Suitcases For Kids Program:

  • Personal Care Items (toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
  • New or Slightly Used Suitcases (good condition and clean)
  • New Toys and/or New Stuffed Animals
  • Cash Donationsto Purchase Personal Care Items
